December 16, 2019 - Today, the Stompers announced the addition of young right-handed pitcher John Polanco for the 2020 spring/summer MAW calendar. John spent the past several years playing in the backyard league he helped found, the Polanco Park Wiffleball League, in central New Jersey. John made his MAW debut in October, where he suffered a tough luck loss against his future teammate, Gino Joseph. John impressed in that brief outing and came out of the event having drawn interest from more than one MAW team. Polanco fits into the team’s plan of getting younger with the ultimate goal of turning the franchise completely over to a young core. At just 16 years old, John could be a major piece of that puzzle in 2020 and for years to come.

December 7, 2019 - FREE AGENT ALERT - Mike Sidorov is looking to join a team for the upcoming Mid Atlantic season. Mike is a veteran player with extensive experience competing in GSWL Fast Pitch (career stats) and GSWL Yard (career stats) in the Massachusetts region, among other tournaments. He is an experienced pitcher and has been an above-average hitter during his wiffleball career. Currently, he can commit to the five Pennsylvania tournaments (three in York, two in Ridley Park) for the 2020 regular season. Please contact MAW or Tim Cooke if interested in getting in touch with Mike.
December 5, 2019 - FREE AGENT ALERT - Kenny Stengel, a career .262/.393/.520 hitter in seven seasons playing for the Palisades Diamondbacks, is looking to join a team for MAW tournaments in 2020. Kenny is coming off one of his best seasons in Palisades from a raw number standpoint. He hit the second most home runs of his career while also posting the second best slugging percentage over his career. Not much of a pitcher prior to 2019, Kenny threw 22 innings for the Diamondbacks last season and allowed just seven runs. If interested, contact Kenny (@kstengel37) on Twitter or reach out to an MAW representative.
November 25, 2019 - FREE AGENT ALERT - Mike Weiner, the owner of a 1.16 ERA in 232 2/3 innings pitched over six seasons in Palisades, is looking for an MAW team for the upcoming tournament year. Mike is a strikeout pitcher, as evidenced by his 13.0 SO/5 IP rate. The team he ends up with will be getting a high level pitcher with significant big game experience. If interested, contact Mike (@mrw56410) on Twitter or reach out to an MAW representative.

November 25, 2019 - In what appears to be the final domino to fall in a busy day of Ridley Park-related transactions, the Ridley Park Wifleball League announced the formation of a new RPWL team for MAW, the Dirtballs. The new team reportedly includes two players with significant MAW experience in former Shortballs Vinny Albanese and Jack Liberio. Additionally, Ethan Pecko, Mike Collins, John Lockhart, and Behn Worley are expected to round out the Dirtballs roster. Of the six, only Worley enters 2020 without any prior MAW experience. The pitching - at least initially - will likely come from a combination of Pecko, Worley, and Lockhart. Pecko impressed as a substitute player with the Barrel Bruisers last August and Worley was an above average pitcher in RPWL last season.

November 25, 2019 - After losing out on Cam Farro to the Longballs, the Shortballs shifted gears today by acquiring Zane Johnston, Austin Bleacher, and Dennis Donegan, all formerly of the Blueballs. Johnston gives the squad the pitching they were looking for in their pursuit of Farro while Donegan and Bleacher add much needed offense. To make room for the trio, the Shortballs released Jack Liberio and Vinny Alabanese. Joey VanHouten will take on an administrative role with the team.

November 25, 2019 - The Longballs announced that Cam Farro, formerly of the Blueballs, will join the team for the 2020 Mid Atlantic season. Cam is coming off a 2019 campaign where he won MAW Rookie of the Year honors and allowed just 7 runs in 47 innings pitched. He is expected to join Dylan Harshaw, Tyler Nachbar, Tommy Loftus, Sean Bingnear, and Colin Pollag on the Longballs’ 2020 roster.

November 12, 2019 - The NY Meats made the rumored addition of Vin Lea official today. The acquisition gives the Meats another two-way player to go with Jimmy Cole, Ryan Bush, and Kyle VonSchleusigen. In one regular season Mid Atlantic tournament in 2019, Vin showed off both sides of his game by hitting .250/.323/.500 and allowing three earned runs in eight innings against the Juggernauts and Longballs as a member of POC. In addition, he had strong showings in the MAW Winter Classic and Fall Draw tournaments, as well as in Palisades WBL, the Fast Plastic tournament, and the NWLA Tournament. Lea likely slots behind Bush and KVon in the Meats rotation and he instantly becomes the team’s second best hitter behind Cole.
