2019 equipment drive (2019 season)
Throughout 2019, MAW will collect new and used sports equipment which will be donated to Leveling the Playing Field, a 501(c)(3) organization located in Silver Spring, Maryland. The mission of Leveling the Playing Field is to provide low-income communities with used and excess sporting equipment. Leveling the Playing Field recipients – which are mainly located in the greater DC and Baltimore metro areas – allocate the funds saved from the equipment donations by lowering registration fees, expanding their scholarship programs, enhancing their existing athletic programs and/or developing new ones.
Participants at all 2019 MAW tournaments are invited to bring any used or excess sporting equipment – including wiffle ball equipment! – to donate. A collection bin will be set up at each tournament and MAW will deliver the collected equipment to Leveling the Playing field on a periodic basis throughout the year. For a full list of accepted equipment, please click here. For more information on Leveling the Playing Field, please visit their website. We look forward to supporting Leveling the Playing Field’s mission to help keep kids in the game!
2019 BIRDLAND RADIO (March 31, 2019)
On Sunday March 31st, MAW participated in the annual Birdland Radio - a 12-hour podcast marathon featuring Baltimore Oriole podcasters and bloggers from around the metro Baltimore area. When not on the air, the podcasters and bloggers participated in several games and a pair of home run derbies organized by MAW. Those that played got the opportunity to see some high caliber wiffs pitching courtesy of one of the game’s best, experience what competitive wiffleball is like, and walk away with some prizes. A big thank you to Birdland Radio, Section 336 Podcast, and all the participants who allowed us to introduce them to this great sport.
